Bhisé Global Learning Experience: India

Sep 20, 2022

Travel Dates: January 7 – 19, 2023

Application Deadline: September 30, 2022

The Bhisé Global Learning Experience aims to help Adelphi students embrace different ways of thinking in a focused, structured, and experiential way. Funded by a generous gift to Adelphi University by Mr. Bharat Bhisé, MBA ’78, CEO and Founder of Bravia Capital, this comprehensive campus internationalization effort includes an annual lecture series, cultural events, and an international study tour for Levermore Global Scholars students.   “A global mindset is critical for students to succeed in their future professional roles and to be educated citizens,” says Mr. Bhisé .  With this initiative, he is ensuring Adelphi students are equipped to face the complex challenges that are vital to Americans living in the 21st century and beyond.

In this inaugural year, the Bhisé Global Learning Experience will focus on India, where Mr. Bhisé  was raised, earned his undergraduate degree, and maintains strong personal and professional relations.  The study tour component will fully fund eight Adelphi students in the Levermore Global Scholars program to travel to India for 11 days during January intersession.  With New Delhi and Mumbai as the foreground, Mr. Bhisé  will coordinate lectures, cultural visits, and site visits to help students gain a deeper understanding of India’s global role from a variety of perspectives: business, politics, the arts, women’s empowerment, the environment, and health and wellness. This experience is non-credit bearing.  Students are required to attend three pre-departure meetings prior to departure and commit to present an independent research project that culminates from this experience at Adelphi Research Day in April 2023.
